I think my 3.5mm audio out jack might be about to fail (its looser than its should be). would a 3.5mm to usb adapter effect sound quality in game? Thanks!

it will sound better :D, only because the static of inside case from front io will be gone.

He might be using the rear IO instead of the front IO...

Not really, you can't guarantee that.

 

The "adapter" is really a soundcard, with a built in DAC and amplifier inside. the internal components could be very cheap or poorly built resulting in a very bad sound quality.

 

 

OP: Try to buy something with good reviews, not a 2$ one on ebay.
