Asus DCUII 770

Cheese4395

Hi guys, so I've had my pc for a little over 3 months now and I still can't shake the feeling that something isn't right with my Asus DCUII 770.

I have idle temps of around 36C which is totally acceptable as that is only a bit higher than ambient in my house. (Yes I understand the whole ambient temperature is always lower than pc temps.) But load temps go up to 76C under a full load and will go over 80C when I stress test it. Now the card isn't currently throttling or anything at this temp because I have max at 80C but do you guys have any clues as to whats going on or solutions?

Thanks a ton..

Edit: If this is a totally normal thing, how much can the temps rise on this GPU and be okay?

Are you gaming when you get 76 degrees?

It seems slightly on the high side, but nothing to be concerned about.

What is the ambient room temperature?

It's fine. You're good up to around 85c, I would start worrying at 90c.

Yes I am gaming. When I'm stress testing it will hit 80 and over.

If you are worried then just increase the fan speed and see where that takes you. Sounds pretty normal to me though, maybe a little high but nothing to be worried about. I owned an ASUS GTX 670 TOP in the past. Remember that these cards come overclocked and will allow for quite a bit of additional overclocking and tweaking.

Do you use GPU tweak? Are you overclocking it? In GPU tweak you can set the max temp.I run mine at 85 overclocked it hits around 1250 on the GPU clock. The only thing holding it back is the power.I have a Corsair 650 with the pci pigtail cable going to it. You can set the GPU target temp in GPUtweak. If you use GPU tweak what is yours set at?

I do use GPU tweak. No I'm only using the overclock that it came with. I'll have to mess around with it later tonight. The thing is when I use Kombuster, it starts throttling when it hits 80C (which is the top that I have it currently set at).

Another temp nazi LOL!

What is even a temp nazi? I was just asking a question and your input wasn't really helpful... What was even the point of posting this?

Just saying you are worry far to much about your temps. 680/770s are not cool low performance cards like a 750ti. A quick search will indicate 80c is proper temps well within spec http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/GeForce_GTX_770_Direct_Cu_II_OC/31.html

80c won't make any gpu ... "blow up". LOL stop being paranoid and do what I did and read a few reviews from respected sites.

I get this way about my vid card. It's the same one that you use as well. One monitor to play the game, the other to look at the vid card stats. It's neurotic, I know.

I am a temp Nazi too then! That's such an ugly way of saying that you love your computer and care enough about it to be mindful of temperatures! I want my rig to run at 8GHz and at sub-zero temperatures! :P

Hahaha well thanks for all your guys help. I ending up over clocking my Asus 770 to 1254MHz with a synthetic load with Temps of 81C.i think the card needed a burn in because soon after I burned it with synthetics Temps lowered dramatically. Luckily real games aren't as intense as synthetic loads so everything will be alright.
