Safe Temperature For Intel core i5 4670k

Go to solution Solved by ProKoN,

safe maximum load temp is 80-85C

we tend to recommend 80C or lower as acceptable for 24\7 use.

your temps are acceptable.

properly oc your chip, dont use auto vcore values

i have some questions like the title said, i'm overclocking my cpu up to 4.5 GHz now, with core voltage 1.25v (fix)

before i set the core voltage on auto and it get more BSOD after running some game or benchmark

when i set on auto, the temperature roughly reach 68C, now it's up to 71C on a full load

my question is, does this 71C temperature safe to keep run on or not, i'm using CM Nepton 120xl for my cpu cooling, should i revert back to 4.2GHz or change my liquid cooling or something else?

yet i run my rig on compact system, and i'm using corsair rm 550, yet it's fan never spin at all even on full load, so i thought it's heat will affect my motherboard and other component i have inside

here my rig's specification :

- intel core i5 4670k @4.5 GHz

- MSI Z87M Gaming

- 2x4 GB Patriot Viper 3 PC12800

- MSI GTX 760 Hawk @1228 MHz

- Corsair RM 550

- Cooler Master Nepton 120XL

- Bit Fenix Prodigy M

for note :

i run on my compact casing so it's really crowded inside, i can only manage to get 2x120mm fan for intake yet it's air flow is half blocked by my Graphic Card, and the exhaust it just depend on fan from the CM Nepton itself. i change nepton fan into 2x120mm Gelid Wing

-thx for your help-

anything under 90 is fine, and anything under 110 is safe

It's pretty good. Mine @4.6 idles at 40 and reaches 65-70 at full load and I'm rocking an H100i. Haswell tends to run hotter than Ivy anyway.

The SHUTDOWN LIMIT set by intel is 105c, so under that is mostly fine, but obviously try to stay well away from that limit.

There's a really detailed discussion on Tom's hardware. Link: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1740479/safe-temp-intel-core-4670k.html

I got a H100i and runs somewhere like 65c +-5c under load at 4.2ghz, same cpu. But I don't have it here so I'm running off memory.

Home is where the heart my desktop is.

yeah just got scared seeing this one running at more than 70C, my ivy bridge can run below it without using liquid cooling

h100 seems legit for me, but if i take that i'll must take out my 2 fan intake and got 1 fan for exhaust then

but if it's fine then i'll keep running it thx for you guys replies
