Super Flower SF-550K14XP 550W

samuel

Just ordered one, along with Zalman Z11 nonplus and an Enermax 140mm LED.

This PSU is available only for 230 VAC, and there is no review whatsoever on the great Internet. It will be used with 7950 and FX 8320 or haswell if it overclocks like crazy.

I live in Romania, this is the country where a $1000 Radeon HD 7990 launch price is actually €1000 in stores!

This is the PSU: http://www.techpowerup.com/164396/super-flower-intros-new-550w-modular-psu.html

And this is where I bought it:http://www.dc-shop.ro/surse/sursa-modulara-super-flower-sf_550k14xp-550w-l/

The price is $95 and it will be shipped tomorow!

So, guys, what do you think, is it trustworthy?

Budget was very limited but I had to have a modular PSU.... And 550W is more than I need!

I am sceptic about this PSU. Don't have any actual experience with it but i don't trust any PSU that is not made by Flextronics or Seasonic.

Sorry if my English is not perfect, but it isn't my native language :)

Is it also available in Bulgaria, isn't it? If it does, what is the price? I'm just curious!

I would be cautious about this psu. im very stingy with PSU's they (imo) are the most important part of the pc. if it shorts the entire build is dead, so i play it safe and make sure that i pay more for a psu just because cheap ones are scary. i had a cheap PSU a few years back and it shorted out and then all of my other components died. i have a few rules when picking PSU's and you can follow them if you want or you can ignore me.

Must be 80+ certified. even if its just bronze odds are its a okayish PSU

There must be at least 10 reviews total for any of the models of PSU and they all have to be a minimum of 35 out of ten

Must be a brand that you have heard people talk about before or that you have seen a few reviews on.

if it hasnt been bought on a major store (newegg, amazon etc) and its a regular sized PSU (400w-800w) it is either brand new or crap

If it has LEDS on it, its probably just to catch your attention.

This is a bit far but it must have at least a 9 or higher on jonnyguru.com

I live by these rules and call me crazy but i take PSU's very seriously.

And actualy all Super Flower PSUs have good reviews, this is just too new and it's 230VAC only limitation is a very good reason why I cannot find one for this specific model.

If I remember correctly, Super Flower is the PSU OEM Rosewill, Kingwin, NZXT, and a few more. It's also been around for quite a while, around 1991.

Super Flower is right in TOP with Seasonic .Also a manufacturer, unlike corsair, antec, ocz etc....the best money can buy.there is a high chance actually that your psu is super flower with another sticker on it .it is the oem for other brands.

Looks fine to me, by the sound of things it's a cut-down version of the Golden Green series. Looking at a review of what appears to be the 450w variant, it looks like a pretty decent unit for the price (at least, compared to other units on the site you linked).

This psu says that is 85% efficient at 50% loads but it doesn't have a 80+ certification so I am not sure how it will perform when it is under 50% load or above 50% load.

It looks awesome! It performs as expected. Too sad I can't see the psu's LED fan because it's facing down LOL.

for cost saving, they put the badge anyway. I can forgive that. And a 7950 is kinda perfect for that 50% load. But I have to buy one first! I hope the prices go down now when nvidia..:D
