  1. Well I ended up unplugging the PSU installed opening the case and plugging in my older PSU and while my older PSU does have coil whine, it's pretty faint and sounds different than the sound you hear in the case. So yeah it's probably the MOBO that's causing the sound, also the PSU also stopped and started when I moved the slider in the game so it's is probably related to the power components. That's a damn shame, I was hoping to have a quite PC this time around, I just built this PC a month ago, perhaps I'll have it replaced then. Once you notice the sound it's really hard to stop hearing it, especially with my DT880s as they are open headphones.
  2. So I recently built this computer and yesterday I was playing The Solus Project and realized there was something making a very low buzzing sound from my case. After I went into the video settings in the game I discovered something very strange, if I moved the Resolution Scale slider the buzzing would stop for a second and then return. At the time I thought it may be one of the fans in the system or maybe on my EVGA 1070SC or at the worst perhaps my PSU since I used the one from my last rig. Well today I noticed the noise just after booting, I'm honestly not sure how long the low buzzing has been going but I only really noticed yesterday. So I ended up doing some testing and just straight up swapping the PSU for the new one I bought for my old rig. None of the fans were the cause, the GPU was good, sound card good, hard drive good, and it doesn't seem to be anything on the case vibrating as the buzzing stops and starts according to what the PC is doing when on. So the only 3 options left are the MOBO, RAM or the new PSU I just swapped in. I'll probably end up testing what I can after I post this but has anyone ever had their MOBO make a buzzing noise like this?

  5. So I had not bothered with Mantle until CCC 14.4 dropped and my initial install saw no performance difference from DirectX 11 and Mantle, heck my FPS seemed to be 10-15 frames lower than normal. I was actually having a hard time keeping above 40FPS and on top of that I was getting weird stutters. I didn't know if this was the drivers or BF4 because honestly BF4 has so many issues it's hard to tell where the fault lies, either way a few days ago I did the standard uninstall and reinstall to see if maybe something in the command for the install went very wrong last time. Well. Something was definitely wrong on that first install because when I switched to mantle and put everything on Ultra this time around...oh boy did things start flying real fast. I went from having a mix of mostly high and medium settings with 2xMSAA(@1080p) @40-60FPS using DirectX 11 to all Ultra with 2xMSAA(@1080p) @704w-80FPS with Mantle and the best part is the lowest I've seen so far is 60FPS. There are some issues in the menus where the FPS will tank down to 40 but never actually while playing, no idea what's causing that. Honestly I was not expecting that large of a performance boost, I just hoped I could play at mid/high settings without dipping below 60FPS. I am very surprised by the performance bump I've seen. Has anyone else capable of using Mantle seen the same performance increase or better?
  6. I would need another source before I blindly follow this.
  7. Just so you know that guy doesn't know what he's talking about. Yes, you can pair a cheap Physx card (GTX260+ is recommend) with an AMD card, but you'll need to use a hybrid driver. More info/the drivers available here: http://www.ngohq.com/graphic-cards/22136-how-to-fix-hybrid-physx-with-latest-physx-and-geforce-285-solved.html
  8. To people with Nvidia, read this: http://www.reddit.com/r/battlefield_4/comments/1ni1vw/nvidia_owner_and_got_low_fps_solution_here/ It was posted earlier in the thread and may seriously help some of you. The generally thought is to try Nvidia's 320.49 drivers, it may or may not help you, some people report no FPS change while others report a pretty decent boost in FPS. Also for 500 series, this was down the thread some. Like I said, it may or may not help but it's worth trying.
  9. Bastion. That games sound track is amazing and perfect for the game in every way,
  10. Right now I have a 128GB SSD for OS and other things that could use the speed boost, and a 2TB drive for storage. The reason I run this is simple, it was cost efficient for me. I got the SSD because I wanted my OS to respond faster and for most programs to run faster, I got the 2TB for my games and anything else that takes up a bulk amount of space. If I could have gone RAID I would have but money was a constraint so for now this is what I have, and it works very well. 11. If I have to use a controller, the Xbox controllers have always been my preferred layout. It just works a lot better for me than any PS controller ever has.
  12. Why do you ask this question? It doesn't make much sense to compare different things. Pretty much everyone should know that YouTube's "live streaming" is crap and only used by a few people. It was not what YouTube was made for nor is it what the majority use if for, YouTube is for viewing videos. Twitch is for watching people stream videos live/ and you can also watch highlights made by the streamer. There is no further reasoning, neither one of them is superior because they fill different needs.
  13. Um, I like having parts that function in gaming machines, or just in machines as a whole.....
  14. I'm sticking with the Asus Cross Hair V Formula-Z, the $230 it cost is nothing compared to all the BS I've been through with this board and Gigabyte, they still don't even admit that Rev. 3 has issues. Yeah, the older revisions don't seem to suffer from most of the flaws in the Rev. 3 board. Oh and one of the members at OCN got a Rev. 4 as a RMA to his Rev. 3 he sent in and it still throttles.....
