gpu overheating

I just built my very first pc and after a week or so, my gpu starts hitting  88 degrees Celsius and makes games crash as it desperately tries to cool itself down. I have an RTX 2070 xc ultra. I believe its overheating because the card is in a micro atx case but I'm not sure so I came here.

88 is pretty toasty for an Nvidia GPU, but RTX does run really hot. Try lowering the voltage/power limit.

As @wONKEyeYEs mentioned, if you open up the case, and the GPU is still overheating, then there is a problem with the GPU.

If opening up the case, and the temperatures drop significantly, then it is a case airflow problem, and the actual GPU is fine.
