Just for future notice, never download any torrents containing copyrighted content without a VPN/Proxy/some form of anonymity. Or at all.

Pretty sure we are not allowed to talk about piracy on the forum. But if you get warnings to stop doing things, well, I think that is a personal decision. Good luck with it.

These letters have been going out since April 2013 and is standard for all ISPs in Canada.

Here's a bit of information that I can pass along.

Why did I receive a copyright notification email?

You have received a copyright notification because we have been notified by a content owner that your Internet Protocol (IP) address has allegedly been associated with copyright infringement, and we are legally obligated to forward to you a copy of the content owner’s notice.

What sort of copyright infringement?

We are unaware of the full details and merit of copyright infringement claims.

Will Shaw give out by personal information based on my IP address?

Shaw will not provide any information regarding customers’ accounts to rights holders, unless we receive a Canadian court order directing us to do so.

What should I do about this copyright alert?

We cannot advise you on a course of action, but if you have questions concerning this matter, you may want to contact the content owner directly—contact information is attached to the copyright notification.

• We do suggest that you ensure your PC and home WiFi network are secure.

What can I do to secure my PC and home WiFi network, so others can’t use my Internet connection?
