Hey there guys, I'm moving to Australia in a week for college, and I was just thinking of getting a plan with Telstra. As I dislike my S3 now, I was wondering, the plan with Telstra includes a HTC One for $69 a month, and I've always wanted to get a HTC One, sexy build+speakers. But the phone is quite old, and I don't want the Max. Do you think HTC will release a new phone(like the one) anytime soon, or should I just get it.

Also, if you don't reckon that my decision is entirely great, recommend a phone? Nexus 5? S4? Anything but the iPhones :)

they WILL release a new HTC One successor, with how much attention the One got, HTC would loose out on a lot if they did. I would recommend that you wait. Since Oppo is pushing 2K phones, you might find that the Htc one 2 or whatever they name it, it just might be 2K with higher end specs.

2k phones? Jesus christ, why?

I think that'll be a fad like the 3d EVO, just wait for it to die out as it'll kill game performance (since its running at a higher rez that you really cant tell the difference)

have you ever heard of a thing called "Progress" yeah it exists, and it's why phones come out with NEW specs every single goddamn year.

and by this time it will have an adreano gpu that can support and power it, hell we already have adreano gpu's that support 4K.

So what should I do before the successor releases, as in, is there a way to buy the plan but use my phone first for to months, then sign up for phone with plan? I'm not sure, please instruct me :/

Nevermind that, but do you think the successor will have Beats Audio, because HTC and Beats split up!

No, it won't, but that shouldn't concern you. Just get an equalizer and raise the treble and bass frequency and you can replicate beats audio basically. Devices with beats audio have a detrement that they don't have a flat equalization whether you turn it on or off.

Well there is a point that you start to hit a brick wall, and 2k on a 5 inch display kind of is the brick wall.

Bringing games from 720p/1080p counterparts to 2k is more than just flicking a switch (if it runs naively)

The GPU supports 4k playback. 4k playback is nothing, Intel HD 3000 could do it

In April the S5 is supposed to come out. How long can you wait and also why don't you like the S3?

Dream-phone: USB type-c (3.1), 1440p, 5-inch, removable battery, 32gb RAMdrive, sd card slot, stock Android, transparent atomic purple build, 9050 mah battery, waterproof AF, nuclear powered, ac wifi is fine.
OR a one-of-a-kind iphone that runs Android.

HTC traditionally announces their new flagship around the time of MWC (end Feb).

We are so close I'd hold off getting a One right now if you can.

I guess that's what I should do :)

I think I got a bad model, 90% of the RAM is used all the time even when nothing is open, so the phone is SLOW as HELL. sucks like shite

To Aussie?

FYi. BUY ALL YOUR ELECTRONICS BEFORE YOU MOVE IF YOU DONT WANT RIDICULOUSLY HIGH PRICES.

I will be getting it with a plan, so it's alright, about 69 a month for the current HTC One :), hopefully less than 80 for the new one
