Yes it's normal,

you really don't want to tighten all the way, it will cut the tube

my compression fittings wont tighten all the way. is this normal?

 

could you elaborate on that a bit more? pix would be better..

 

the fittings will not tighten anymore because? no more thread?, o-ring seal is squeezing out?

no when i put the tube on then screw it down

if you are reading this you are wasting valuable time and should maybe rethink your life choices.

is your tubing diameter quite thick? Sometimes it wont screw all the way down due to that. I know the Primochill tubing has very thick walls and wont. then i moved to mustklear and i could easily screw them all the way down. If you are worrying about it put some toilet paper around them when testing for leaks.

remember, there will be little to no pressure in the system .and you are only wanting the

locking ring (outside ring) to cinch the tube for a seal. not looking for decapitation. and as

a rule on comps, several heat cycles and your going to retighten the fittings again. and again..
