Lack of hyperthreading on new Intel Chips

FeaR418

How does the lack of hyperthreading on the new i7's effect streaming? Also, what would be the best chip to get for streaming (doesnt have to be i7) and gaming?

The new i7 has two more cores, so the loss of hyperthreading generally doesn't cost any performance, including for streaming.

I dont know the Ryzen product line well, any recommendations? If you have an overview of their products (or a link) I would greatly appreciate it.

How much of a difference would hyperthreading make, would the upgrade to the i9 be worth it? I don't upgrade often, and would prefer to spend more and upgrade less.

Ryzen 7 chips are all 8 cores with SMT (like hyperthreading), like the Core i9-9900K.

Ryzen 5 are either 6 cores with SMT or 4 cores with SMT.

There are two generations of Ryzen chips, the new ones are numbered 2XXX and the old ones 1XXX (like the Ryzen 7 2700X and the predecessor Ryzen 7 1800X).

For streaming, a Ryzen 7 would make sense.

Typically 20-30% more performance when the program can use the extra threads. The 9900K costs a whole lot of money, not sure it's worth it.
