My computer is turning it self off after running games for about 30-45 mins. I think the cause might be overheating (because i just finished building it so it's probably not any viruses or related), so i Wonder if you have any good programs for stress testing or checking temperatures. And can a bad mounted cpu fan cause this, im using the hyper 212 and i think i might have used too much cooling paste ;)

Thanks for replies :)

Use CoreTemp or HWMonitor to monitor your CPU temps and use MSi Afterburner to monitor you GPU temp.

Run Prime95 and Unigin Heaven simultaneously to test the temps under load.

Also make sure all the power cables are plugged in securely.

ok thank you so much! :) but is this a normal problem after building a computer, or is it like a huge rookie mistake? :D

It's not an uncommon problem, but not a regular problem either. The main issue is that the point of failure can be many things in this situation.

yeah but the thing is, i have a hyper 212 (which is said to be very good) 5 fans and the Fractal design arc XL. So i don't see how?

I hope you put thermal paste on it...

yes ofc :) but im worried that i might have taken too much on it, could that cause it too shutdown?

If you have put to much thermal paste on it can cause high temperatures, and thereby shutdowns. The amount you should add should be about the size of a grain of rice.
