do you mean you tried to make a Windows install usb? why did you post this in the everything non-Windows thread?

 

anyways, how did you make the usb? what program did you use?

The windows media creation tool. I think I put it in the wrong thread my bad.

ok. in the media creation tool, use .iso file instead of the usb method. save the iso file soemwhere. 

then, download rufus and use that to make the usb.

 

make sure you select GPT or MBR, depending on if you have a UEFI or BIOS system. 

if you are not sure what system you have, try GPT first, if that doesn't work try MBR.

Ok but isn’t an iso file for a disk?

a .iso file is just a disk image file. it can also be used with usb sticks, etc.

How can you tell if it’s UEFI or bios?

you can use GPT in rufus to make your usb drive. 

 

just make sure legacy boot mode is disabled in your BIOS.  

(msi might call it something different like UEFI with CSM, just make sure it's set to UEFI only)

For boot selection do I want ‘disc or iso’?

When I do that I can’t change to GTP

leave it at "disc or iso"

then use the select button

select your .iso file 

then you can select gpt

click start.
