I would like to build a Server PC for around £250 British Pound, it will be used for Modded and Vanilla MC Hosting and maybe even some GMod. It will be etherneted into the network and have about 10 people max playing on it. Micro ATX is preferable. OS will not be needed as we can get Ubuntu or use XP from one of my ancient PCs.

Parts List:

CPU: AMD A8-5600K 3.6GHz Quad-Core Processor  (£64.00 @ Amazon UK)
Motherboard: Asus F2A55-M LE Micro ATX FM2 Motherboard  (£40.00 @ Amazon UK)
Memory: Corsair XMS 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  (£52.99 @ Amazon UK)

Total: £257.13

As far as i know, MC server uses only 1 thread and doesnt need graphics. So you are overkilling on cpu ( unless you want it to be usable afterwards or something... )

If you switch ssd instead of hdd, it will load faster

how about that?

I suggest a non APU cpu, MC servers are only CPU bound, and depend on single core performance (unless you use something like YAMS).

If you can expend the extra I think it's worth it, it may not be quad core, but it's a beast on single core performance!

As of 1.1.0, Minecraft servers can use multiple threads.
