Im using MSI Afterburner and there is this Voltage/Frequency curve.

I dont really get how this works, i understand that at a set voltage the frequency will be for example 1900mhz.

But i dont understand when it changes the voltage, why cant it run at the highest voltage when i put the voltage to 100%?

Can someone explain?

What voltage is it running at? Normally that percentage is based on the max allowed by the bios. Which is turn is normally the boards physical limit.

If stock voltage is 1.1 and upping it 100% would get be 1.212 that’s all it’s gonna do. All boards are slightly different as is their bios. Needs to be under the right load to see the full voltage increase as well.

Isnt ditecrly correlated to the gpu’s core clock when adding voltage.

Its a rtx 2070 so its highest voltage is 1.093 and with the slider on 100% its under load starting with like 1.063 and after some time it stays at 1.043 so my question is what makes the voltage changin and not staying at the same?

Load. Hitting the power limit would effect voltage. Which is a big problem on the 20 series cards. They all seem to hit power and voltage limits quite easy, even with third party boards.

power limit is the name of the game for rtx cards, and those who have modded their cards to exceed the power limit reports disappointing gains. The max oc of a bad card vs a good card without mods usually leads to about a 3% performance difference, not something to lose sleep over.

I used custom bios with my 970 and 1080 ti, i'm not even gonna bother with the 20 series, haven't even move my voltage slider, not worth it. max out the power limiter, that's all i'm doing.

So on my 2070 strix i can put up the power limit to 125% so im not hittjng the powet limit so im still wondering why the voltage is changing.

Im pretty new to such things like gpu boost 3.0, on my 970 it ran with the same clock and with the same voltage all the time. Maybe i ned some basics on how it works

You can raise the power, prolly still gonna hit the power limit. Still gonna jump around. 20 series is worse than the 10 series when it comes to that.

Isnt uncommon at all and I wouldn’t worry about it.

Well then it’s hitting the voltage limit. If either way there’s nothing wrong with the card unless it’s states it in gpuz

Yea the slider can say what ever it wants. The board knows what it’s doing. I can put my slider at 200%, still gonna hit power and voltage limits.
