Two M.2 SSDs...

Hello all,

 

I've looked around on the forums for an answer but I can't seem to get a straight answer so I'll ask it here.

 

I currently have a Z370 Hero Maximus motherboard paired with a 8700k, If I were to get a NVME ssd and put it in one of the two m.2 slots and use PCIE x4 would that take away performance from the GPU?

IF it doesn't... Would adding another m.2(total of two m.2 ssds) affect the gpu performance then?

 

Really confused on all of this CPU lanes and whatnot.

 

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Won't affect the gpu, the m.2 ssds use the pcie lanes from the chipset.

those M.2 SSD's will be going through the PCH (a single PCI-Express 3.0 4x link) along with other SATA and USB devices.  They will not be using the PCI-Express lanes directly off the CPU.
