Hello, I've been having problems with an hp pavilion 23(Model number 23-b017c) they area really strange. One of the problems that i was having with it it would randomly shut of at different times the length of how long it was on was always different. I thought maybe it was overheating and that why it would shut off, but i changed the thermal paste and cleaned the fan that cools the copper heat pipes and the also the grill of the copper heat pipes. Once it would shut down i would unplug it from the wall and re-plug it again into the same socket, so the computer power led wouldn't light up and id have to plug it into a completely different socket for it to turn on again. I took the pc to brothers shop and i left it on for 40 minutes and it didn't shut of once. Then i plug it into one the power plugs in the dinning room and i got it to work there. I thought that the problem was fixed but i plugged into all the socket in my room and the led wouldn't even light up, so then i decided to plug it into some of the other rooms and now it will only power on in the dining room socket.

I'm looking to hopefully fix, and being able to use the computer in my room instead of using it in the dinning room area. Thank you for the help!

sounds like you've got noisy mains power at your place, that's doing something your pc doesnt like.

do you happen to have a *REALLY* long extension cord laying around? try plugging in your desktop into that, and see if it makes things better, in some odd instances it makes a slight difference.

I have  considered that it might be the power from this house, but my other electronics work fine like a laptop,ps3,s7 that has no problems. I also had a a power strip that i plugged it to.
