Hey guys.

So the story is that my router keeps resetting.  I have Spectrum internet 300Mbps. They have their modem here and then that connects to a brt-ac828 router.  That then connects to a 48 port poe network switch.  This is literally a brand new router.  I have called Spectrum out and they gave us a router and that one never causes the internet to go down.

The reason I have a brand new brt-ac828 is because I had an asus nighthawk connected to it and that started doing the exact same thing, along with the linksys I had before that.  So I got a business class router.  I am under the assumption it is due to an ip conflict.  I have reset and resetup the router multiple times but we spent a ton on the brt-ac828. I would really like that to work.  I have 15 connections on the switch, one of which going to adt security cameras, and 4/8 ports on the router filled. Then there are a few wireless connections.  Nowhere near bottle necking.

I've been having the issue for all routers except the spectrum router.  There has to be something I can do to get this to stop resetting the router.  We have office phones connected to the internet so when the internet goes down we lose all calls and that's the only source of our income.

Please help me out fam!

My personal experience wit these kind of routers are sketchy at best. While they offer it like a business router its more a consumer router imo.

Devices like this that try to do everything just tend not to be very stable.

If you are dependent on VOIP i would suggest you get a router like the Edgerouter, Mikrotik, Zyxel, Cisco that just do routing.

Most if not all have the ability to do some form of QoS for your VOIP traffic. Plus they are rock stable.

Then use the brt-ac828 in bridge modus as your AP/switch for the rest.

What modem and what router did spectrum provide? Just so we have that piece of the puzzle.

Does your devices bitch about IP conflicts or something? Because there should not be any conflicts if there is only 1 DHCP server which should be the one built in to the router. If you dont have multiple DHCP servers then yes that is an issue that needs to be addressed.

What kind of symptoms do you see? I mean does lets say your computer or device disconnect from the network entirely? Does the network work but internet stop working?

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

I think its an IP conflict because it said that on one of the computers I was on but it hasnt been an error since.  That is the only error I have seen that has made any sense.

The router is a Sagecom Fast5280 RAC2V1S and its in a Spectrum box that is tall and rectangular.  4 Port with USB and WiFi. That is the main reason we need the router is for WiFi.

The internet goes down entirely because only one device is plugged into the modem and everything stems off the modem.  From previous experience, all spots on the modem lose internet, but I will see about watching that.

We didn't start up with the ability to use professional grade equipment from the start coming out of moms basement.  But that is why I am taking the steps now.

The internet worked today all day until about 430pm.  That is about 12 computers online simultaniously.
