Help powering CPU and motherboard

Hi guys just checking if what I done is right. I used the cable labelled CPU to plug into the socket in the picture is that right?

 

Gigabyte AORUS X470 Gaming 7

AMD Ryzen 7 2700X

Corsair RM850x

 

Also I need another header for this 9pin USB but there’s only two headers on the board can I just use the NZXT four way splitter and plug all 3 into that which then goes into just one header?

 

Please help guys I think I’m in over my head on this build Linus makes it look easy

Yeah that looks correct. It also appears your board has an optional additional 4 CPU power pins right below that plug, something to keep in mind for the future.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

You can get a USB Header splitter, or if you are saying you have an NZXT USB header splitter than yes use that (Edit the ones I have seen from NZXT need to be powered via SATA or Molex iirc as well)

 

Yes your PSU needs to connect 2 times, upper left of mobo and far right side (Edit looked closer at pics, your good)

Yup, seems correct.

 

The extra 4pin there can be plugged in (same CPU power as the 8pin), but not necessary. A 2700X will never draw enough power to get close to the limit of the 8pin..

No, just the 8 pins are necessary. 4 others are extra.

Oh crap I meant to ask, the CPU cooler came preloaded with some goop in a square shape on it, was I supposed to still put thermal grizzly on the CPU anyway or not?

If you use aftermarket thermal paste you need to clean the pre-applied paste off.

Thermal grizzly is better than the stuff that comes pre applied, but the stock goop is suitable. If you do clean it off, wipe it with rubbing alcohol and a paper towel.

Thanks guys I didn’t bother and just kept the stock goop and I’ll keep my thermal grizzly for when I do the water cooling blocks in January
