Ok, so my setup is kinda retarded, but bare with me. So I have a Asus GTX 1050 ti 4gb Strix OC with i7 8700k. I also have one of the top best power supplies out there. So I was wondering if I can run vr, specifically HTC Vive. I will upgrade my gpu in the future so no worries about that. What’s your ideas on this?

Btw, no I don’t have intentions on buying the oculus.

LTT did a test with the 1050 ti, it was awful. stepping up to the 1060 3gb basically solved the issue.

See their "VR on a budget" video

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

PSU tier list

How many watts do I need?

PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

You will be able to. But until you get a better GPU you will definitely suffer motion sickness. That is why companies dont recommend the 1050ti as a VR GPU.

idk tbh

I will straight up tell you that even with a 1070 I found myself wanting more in VR ...too many stutters and too often making things look like a potato to run, add in some blurry visuals with a lack of being able to supersample and I went all the way to a 2080ti

I get asked 'can I run VR' a fair bit in real life - entry point IMO for a sensible entry level of performance across all the available applications (with a few exceptions) would be intel i5, 16gb ram, 1060 6gb and SSD.

I don't have AMD experience, and only say this in relation to Vive VR.

This build or higher has proven to work well, all things considered.

Won't even be able to launch Fallout 4 VR ;) (with the current GPU). But my main question is why do you even have an 8700K with a 1050Ti in the first place?

I only got the 1050 ti and i7 8700k because everything was sold out except that. It was on christmas. I regret but it is what it is.

Yes not a bad result.

You will find, if you go Vive (for sure) that you will struggle in more demanding VR titles and you will want to change your GPU.

But if you have tried VR already and really enjoyed it, then go for it!

I am fascinated by VR, whilst I don't use it much, when I do it blows me away and is a real fun thing for the family and friends.
