Will this affect audio quality?

Go to solution Solved by dizmo,

Thanks for the detailed reply, I'll also order this  one from america (it'll take a few weeks to arrive) and in the mean time order and use the previous one as it seems to be the only one I can get here. Hopefully it won't be too bad!

That one looks pretty perfect. I just find thicker cables last longer, kink less, etc.

It's cheap too! Provided they don't try and bend you over on the shipping.

I just got my Audio Technica ATH M50 headphones and unfortunately the cable is shorter than I expected, so I would need to use an extension to fit comfortably with my setup. So my question is, will a cheapo cable such as this: https://www.digitec.ch/ProdukteDetails2.aspx?Reiter=Bilder&Artikel=276255 affect my audio quality? If so will a better cable not affect it as much? Or will it have no effect whatsoever?

Thanks, and audiophiles please don't scream at me :D

Depends how thick it is. Sounds stupid, but the more shielding a cable has the less interference you'll get. If you've ever noticed how a set of earbuds will get sound transmitted through the cable when it rubs against stuff whereas the cable on your M50's doesn't you'll get what I mean.

That said, it doesn't have to be expensive to be decent, but the cheapest one will probably not be that great.

If it's not being moved at all it might not make much difference. Higher end cables sometimes have nicer connections.

That will be fine. No need to worry about super shielding or any of that crap, especialy when you are using it on speakers/headphones.

Grammar and spelling is not indicative of intelligence/knowledge.  Not having the same opinion does not always mean lack of understanding.

This one also looks pretty good and has great reviews: http://www.amazon.com/BlueRigger-3-5mm-Female-Stereo-Audio/dp/B007ZIBURC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1389127498&sr=8-1&keyw

So I'll go for that, shipping won't be an issue since we send things in bulk from america, so it'll just get put in with everything else.

Once again, thanks for your help!
