Best In-depth Hard Drive Diagnostic Program

I have been getting sluggish response from one of my five hard dives in the past two days.

What is the best in-depth diagnostic programs that I could get to check its state of function?

For data to be reasonably safe, it must exist in at least three places. For most people, this means on the computer, on an onsite backup drive, and on an offsite backup drive. For a drive to be a backup drive, it must be kept powered down, disconnected from the computer, and stored somewhere away from the computer. Depending on a drive to give you ample warning before failing is like playing Russian Roulette with only one empty chamber.

 

Instead of worrying if your drives are going to fail or not, get two backup drives for each drive you have. Any drive, including brand new drives, can suddenly fail irrecoverably without any warning at any time. If funds are tight (been there), start with one backup drive and get that fishy drive backed up A.S.A.P., then back up the next drive as soon as you can afford another drive. Once you have one backup for all your drives, start on getting the second backup drive for each of your drives.
