Hi there!

I'm currently looking at a few components for a custom watercooling loop and yesterday I happened to stumble across this:

http://www.xs-pc.com/reservoirs/photon-170-tube-reservoir

I originally planned to go with a Bay Reservoir, but this just looked so sleek that I had to get it.

(I know about the T-virus one, but the glossy plastic is too deterring).

But then It's not perfect:

It's mounting mechanism allows for very little flexibility and since I'm a complete noob, I'd prefer to leave the drills and dremels alone.

Basicly I decided to go with some industrial dual sided tape (3M) instead, but now I'm kind of worried that it might just stick too well, causing damage to the paint finish of my case in case I try to remove it, e.g. if I futher extend my loop.

Is it possible for this to happen?

The case I had in mind:

Thank you for your time!

But would velcro be able to hold the weight of the Reservoir? I'll be most likely mounting it vertically onto the motherboard tray.

(Note that the backplate and brackets are made out of aluminium).

If it despite all of this still works, could you provide a link to the product and any alternate options? (Need one that's sold up here in Sweden).

Yet again, thanks for your efforts!

Yes, I'm afraid that you're right regarding the risk of paint coming off....

What I found is that the 410 is painted, not powdercoated, (powdercoat is a lot tougher, you could basically scrape it with a screwdriver without it coming off)

With paint on the other hand, hard to say, you could be ok, but i'd strongly advise against using double sided tape for the res, as you'd probably need pretty strong tape to get a secure fit...

//edit, didn't notice you had 3M tape...

Have quite a lot of experiace with the 3M double sided tape, it will deffinitely hold your res in place, but i'm pretty sure it will cause some sort of damage when you want to remove it, it's some serious stuff... =)

Any particular problems/issues regarding the dremel modding option? I'd be happy to help with any questions you have. Dremel modding may not be the easiest way to go but gives peace of mind, knowing that nothing will come lose =)

Råd på svenska fås också ifall det behövs! =P

I have the 270 Model of that reservoir. It weighs quite a bit, and add water it will weigh a ton. I would NOT recommend taping or velcroing it anywhere.

Looking at the cabinet I would consider using the drive bays and mounting it on them.

The Aluminium backplate has M3 threading. (Might be the name of the EU standard)

If you use a simple washer it should allow you to mount it without drilling or other modding.
