However, some people tested its performance, the same performance as i7-6700k

Save a lot of money! ! !

I have a fairly hard time believing that , given that's it's basically an underclocked i7 4770k. Same chip ,core count, cache config and everything.

Maybe it's only non-CPU intensive workloads?

This is the information given by the merchant

And they actually made a PCB for their own stitching!!

it's BGA, you can't connect it to a regular mobo...

its also worse than the i7-2600...

= worse than i5-6400 = MUCH WORSE THAN 6700k.

No...they made a PCB that converts the BGA to LGA and then integrated it.

Well it has half of the  i7-4770 non k  power...with locked multiplayer.Dunno you would be better of with any desktop i7.I mean ANY even first gen is faster with K and still overclockable...

The performance boost comes from the L4 cache

Xeon e5649@4.4 GHz on Asus Rampage II Extreme or Gigabyte x58a-OC (whatever I feel like to set up at a time) , 6x4 GB Kingston HyperX 1600, Gainward GTX 670 Phantom, Samsung 840 Evo 240 GB, BeQuiet L8 530W

The only reason I can see anyone doing this is for power consumption reasons. 850RMB seems reasonable but it's been a while since I've investigated the chinese used parts market. Are you sure there's nothing on taobao/tianmao that would suit your needs better? Or is this just a "I can because I can" thing.

Daily Driver: Asus ROG Flow X13 - 5900HS/3050 Ti

Primary Desktop: NCase M1 - 5800X3D/RX 6950XT

Travel PC: Fractal Terra - 5800X/RTX 3060 Ti

I have too many computers. List here.

I live in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China, so I know more about the electronic trading market in Huaqiangbei.

And I can tell you about some of Shenzhen Huaqiang North (if you are investigated the Chinese used parts market)

  • 1 year later...

I just bought one of the 4870HQ that has been reformed for LGA 1150 with custom PCB

I'll be doing a review on it. They advertise it as UNLOCKED multiplier up to 41x and there IS someone on HWBOT that has posted with this cpu running at 4.1ghz

Base clock is 2.5ghz, will be interesting to see what I can hit on my MSI Z97 Gaming 5 board

These do have a much lower power draw than the desktop version so cooling should be too bad. I'll be using a 240mm AIO

I just thought it was cool, and if I can hit 4.1, it'll be good for a 3D Mark achievement. Really only need to hit 3.75 to get the OC achievement (+50% above base clock)

Also going to throw in some old AMD cards for 3 way XFire

Hopefully be a great little janky achievement getter
