I have an old Inspiron 620, with a core i5-2320. Does anyone know if this computer can run VR games at a decent frame-rate? Does anyone know what GPU I should put in it? I am using an Oculus Rift Headset. Aiming for 80+ FPS.

If you need me to follow up on something, please quote or tag me.

Not worth even if you get a graphics card. Spend the money you would on the headset on a new pc

dont trust its PSU powering a graphics card that can match your requirements. your CPU is right on the line as well.

Would the i7-3770 bottleneck the GPU though?

The GTX 1070 Ti's are compatible with that generation of motherboard?

PCIe is forward and backwards compat.

the 2nd gen you have has PCIe 2.0 16x

which is basically 8 pcie 3, which is fine for a 1070 ti

In my opinion yes. With 1000$. you can get a new pc that can run pretty good VR (prob r5 2600 + 1070 ti)

I can make a parts list.

Ok, sounds good!

yes, prebuilts have more compatibility problems than custom builds.

can remove cpu cooler to add something else.

the 750W psu is the same as the 550 so picked that.

the 1070 ti will run VR games nicely. the r5 2600 can be OCed to like 4ghz,

This is my current Gaming PC, I am running 3 monitors, the total resolution is 6400 x 1080, out of one Asus GTX 970 Strix OC card, if I just slap another one in, can the other card just run the VR headset?

Are you using 3 monitors to game at once?

Not usually, but sometimes yes.

Then I'd just buy a cheap card with enough ports to power the monitor, and no performance to speak of. When you play VR and need ports on the GTX 970, remove some of the monitors from the 970 and plug them to the cheap card, then plug the VR headset to the 970.
