Hi, so my little brother installed win 10 to my mothers pc, but there were tons of pictures on the drive. Is there a method or a way to bring back those pictures or is it f**kd up?

Well at least now he learned you back up data before formatting to reinstall the OS.

There are software that might recouver part of the stuff but it's going to be a tough call, I personally wouldn't go through the hassle and just accept the sad fate.

And like said backups are important if you don't want to lose any thing.

Its worth it if I can bring back them. There are pictures when we were in Tunis, Egypt, Greece, Paris, Venice, Milano, pictures with our grandfather who is dead now, so yes its worth the time if we can bring back those pics.

Backups, backups, backups. Always when doing something that has potential to mess with drive.

Easy and costly solution is to take it to professional data recovery service.

Cheap, slow and not-so-reliable is to use paid and free tools. Recuva, EasyUs tools, commandline tools PhotoRec (I used this to recover partial doc files from unreadable USB) and TestDisk. The important thing is to take problem drive out from system is currently in, and insert it to another system as data drive.
