Fallout - Worth a Second Try?

So long story short, I've always tried playing each one as they come out, and after a short bit of time I'm over it and thats how it goes. Same with the TES games. played skyrim for a bit and just never returned to it.

So was thinking of returning to Fallout 3 (with a Graphics mod) and give it a second go, but wanted to find out, am I really missing a lot here? I know there are hardcore fans out there and its a series I want to enjoy I just seem to get bored with them real quick but same time I really want something super immersive and deep story.

Might just do another playthrough of xcom :/

Fallout 3 is worth it. The less you know about the game, the richer the experience.

There’s a lot to the game & a lot of choice. It’s first and foremost NOT a shooter.

But dont let that stop you from using VATS to watch people’s heads explode or go flying miles away.

Just enjoy the dreadful loneliness & apocalyptic horrible horrible end of the world tone. Also play DLC. The pitt is pretty good. Anchorage is a bit cod like. Mothership zeta is different... or the longest dungeon ever of all time. That’s all the dlc I recall. Broken steel just adds the play after game mode.

Spoiler

In the beginning, if you get your hands on a hunting rifle, you’ll have nothing to fear.

Personally I liked the story in New Vegas better.  Fallout 3 seemed pretty bland to me by comparison.  In the end though it depends on what you like.  If you don't have the rebuy the game then give it a go.  If you have to spend money, then I would say avoid it because you already said you aren't into it.  Tastes as subjective and just because a lot of other people enjoyed a title doesn't mean you have to.
