Upgrading CPU , Mobo, and ram

P2g

Hello!

I'm looking to upgrade my computer. I have a budget of $450. I live in Europe.

Right now I have:

  • CPU: AMD A8 8800k
  • RAM: 8GB RAM
  • GPU: AMD Sapphire R9 280x 3G

The problem is that my PC cant handle Fortnite. I have no clue why, but I'm getting around 35-45 FPS in battles, so its unplayable.

I'm looking to upgrade my CPU, Motherboard and RAM.

  • Motherboard: ASUS TUF B450-PLUS GAMING
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600x
  • RAM: Corsair 8GB (2x4GB) DDR4 2666MHz CL16 Vengeance

And I want to keep my GPU!

What do you think? Is there any better parts or should I go with this one?

Thanks!

If possible, when using Ryzen get higher Mhz Ram.

Ryzen does preform better when it's faster.

@FastRDustis right about the ram. I would also recommend getting the non-x version and a good cooler for the difference, and maybe a little more

Alright then, this combination?

  • Asus - TUF B450M-PLUS GAMING
  • Corsair 8GB (2x4GB) DDR4 3200MHz CL16 Vengeance
  • AMD Ryzen 5 2600

I have this cooler too: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO!

That would indeed be a better option.

The GPU will be enough Play Fortnite but what kind of FPS are you aiming for?

I'm guessing at least 60.

Well, right now i'm getting around 120+ FPS in the early stage, but when there are people around me or the storm is closing i get around 30-45 fps. My aim is 60 or over 60 throughout the game... :)

also what kind of setting are you using?

Normal,High etc?

Also what are the temps you are getting?

From what i can see the R9 280X has some issues keeping it head cool.

If you have access to the heat-sink screws, see if you can tighten just a tad so they have more contact with the chip.

I play on Medium settings, shadows off.

I haven't checked the temps , but they are pretty high i think.. :3

Okay so what i'm looking at is that the cooling on your card does not have enough pressure on the chip, so not all the heat gets transferred as much as it was in the beginning.

you know, gravity and such :P

So just tighten those screws a bit and it should be able to sustain better performance.

And of course try not to overtighten them.
