Using aer rgb fans only plugged into hue+

So my fan is currently broken, it makes the most god awful noises and stop starts and struggles to do so.. tried rmaing, see end of post

 

Would it be possible to just unplug the fan from the mobo and leave it plugged into the hue+ for lighting, I've tested with and without the fan, the difference over an hour of stress testing is about 4 degrees so not worth the noise but I love the lights :P

 

 

 

Long story short, never buy nzxt fans, even though I'm within their warranty period anddd have proof of purchase they still won't RMA it...
