CPU + mobo upgrade suggestions

I currently have i5-6400 and H170M matx. I was waiting for this year's cpu because of the rumors on 10nm commercial cpu, but as it turned out this was still 14nm.

 

I have a pretty decent set up with 1080 and 16gb ram, but cpu always throttles the whole system on Monster Hunter World. So the question remains, should I upgrade to i7-9700k +z390 matx or wait for next gen?

also not enough motherboard reviews atm to point out which are good and which sucks

Do you plan on overclocking? If not, just get an 8700 with a B360, if you do, get an 8700k with a Z370, you won't get any extra performance for spending more on a Z390 nor in a 9700k. And if you don't plan on playing in a high refresh rate monitor, Ryzen is also a great option, it's only downfall is for 144Hz+ gaming, other than that, pretty great at everything, specially cost.

I am currently not bound by the price. I just want a reasonable price for reasonable performance.
