Is more Nit better?

NIT is a measurement of brightness, higher = it can have higher brightness.

Typically people don't use their monitor at 100% brightness, but technically a higher NIT monitor will have a higher degree of flexibility in terms of how bright your monitor should be

A brighter display will cause more strain on your eyes (although different people have different tolerence levels). 

 

To answer your question, 400 nits is brighter than 350 nits but that doesn't mean the display is any "better" IMO.
