Lost RAM that no one seams to be able to Answer

1 minute ago, WolfAngel said:

I’m very sure he didn’t take the RAM sticks, as when we first opened the pc there were only 2 ram sticks in the system. We both assumed that the computer would of had 4 sticks of 8 gb of Ram, or because it has only two sticks that both sticks of Ram were 16 gb. I was there helping move the parts from the old motherboard to the new and as I handed him the Ram sticks and he was putting them in he noted that the sticks both say 8 gb and not 16 gb. We then were both saying how does it have 32 gb of ram if it only has 2 sticks of 8 gb. Another reason I know he didn’t take the RAM he had just got an  Origin PC that had come with 64 gb of RAM at least.

Cool, so can you provide the exact make and model of the motherboard you replaced?  It may be that that the other 16GB was soldered on that board, if they bought mass quantities of them it may make sense to go that route.

Wait a second!  So the stickers on each sticks states 8GB?

Can you post a pic of that?

That's the first time I've ever heard of stickers in RAM sticks not advertising their correct capacity.

I can post pics of the ram on my days off, I’ll post the pics of my ram sticks this Saturday for you.

That board does not come with soldered ram.  At least nothing I can find about it at all and I have a decent Google-fu.

I think either the manufacturer bamboozled Newegg and by proxy, you

Or it was misrepresented by Newegg during the time you bought it, and you should follow through with getting this resolved.

Are you sure that RAM closest to your 5.25 bays isn't borked?  That heat spreader is...well obviously messed up.

Are you SURE they aren't 16gb sticks and that one isn't toast?  I know you answered that but it doesn't give me feel goods that the RAM works (have you tried it with just that stick in?)

Yes, one at a time they were tested, they both work, additionally that’s how the heat spreader came on that ram stick from day 1 it’s looked like that.

The big thing for me is how the computer it’s self went from reading that it had 32gb of Ram up until we swapped motherboards. An HWinfo report showed 32gb of Ram a Dxdiag report showed it. Both  motherboards had gone through bios updates both by us updates with the same version. Just by doing the  motherboard swap the computer now reads 16 GB pretty much how the Rams sticks display 8 GB each. Additionally being that I bought a computer back in 2016 and it’s pretty much being an issue that I’m bringing up now They will just dismiss it as hey you swapped the ram you’ve had it for two years, going on 3 years. And the issue started a year and a few months after I had it, I did contact them then but the most I got was send it in and for x amount of $$$ we will fix it. Or do these steps and see if it fixes it. Newegg more or less washed their hands of the issue. You go to ABS’s  website it’s owned by Newegg and doesn’t seem to be updated for years and you really can’t access anything on the website. Hence why I came here looking for possible answers.

Well, the good thing is that it's still performing like it did before, since it's only ever had 16GB of RAM.   They must have tweaked something in the old motherboard BIOS or something, all I can think of.

At this stage, I think you're at the same place we are.  Nothing you can do or we can help with, go back to life as usual.

You probably should have asked for a replacement if the RAM heatsink was BENT / BROKEN from Day 1.

Clearly, you only had 16GB (8GB X2) RAM to begin with.

They "said" 32GB, but it is really 16GB.

They (ABS Systems) did some kind of software trick / scam to show 32GB.

You only have 16 ...you cannot turn 16 into 32 magically.

I have 16 pieces of chocolate...how can 16 chocolate = 32? ?

The NewEgg specifications do not match what you actually received.
