Hi,

I recently bought rx580 OC to 1480mhz, with i7 4790 and 16GB DDR3 1600MHZ..

I noticed on couple of games that i play mostly on high to ultra that gaming becomes slow and sluggish in certain scenes.

I downgraded few settings to medium and i got smoother gaming although i got the same frames capped at 73 on a 75hz monitor.

No FPS changes, no framtime spikes, just smoother gaming, what could have caused this?

Games affected.

BO4

R6S

SOTTR

I think you turned on V-Sync. When I turn it on, gameplay becomes super smooth, but at the cost of half of my frame rate (so I only do it in light titles like Rocket League).

Please mention or quote me if you want a response. :)

What do you mean?

V-sync does lower your fps to your refresh rate but this sounds as if V-sync made your games more demanding (especially because you use it "only in light titles").

I've never heard of an issue like that.

Hmmm, tbh i dint remember, does it matter as i capped my frames to below screen refresh rate?

When I enable V-Sync in a game (I'm gonna use Black Ops 4 in this case) and turn down the settings so that I'm sure that I get 144 FPS as it matches the refresh rate of my monitor, the FPS cuts in half and is locked at 72 FPS... The same thing happens in Rainbow Six Siege.

You shouldnt. In R6S use 1 frame in vsync not 2 frames, which will match your monitor refresh rate, same to BO4

It's the shader stack. MSAA, FSAA ect effecting it when set to max. Just back off on that setting and you can leave the rest of the settings on ultra. The gpu runs short on memory and is having to cache things.

You see the thing is that it's set to 1 frame... Sooo glitch in driver/game maybe?

Even if running on almost the same FPS? Frankly it got better when i downgraded AA settings.
