HD7970 Matrix Block

Go to solution Solved by chaozbandit,

I hope you're aware that EK has released a 280X Matrix block for quite some time now. Yes they are basically the same card, and by extension yes the blocks will fit. But if you have one being marketed as a companion product, I don't see the need to take a risk.

Edit: oops, thought you were asking for it to be the other way around. A regular 7970 block will not fit a Matrix PCB because the latter is a physically larger area, thus it has it's own specific SKU of blocks. As for compatibility, I'm pretty sure EK has stated that they are interchangeable somewhere on other forums. If you're not sure, you can always call or shoot them an email.

I've been looking around for a while for a Matrix 7970 full cover block and I can't seem to find one.  People said that the regular 7970 GPU block wouldn't fit the Matrix 7970.  However, I saw that EK had an R9 280x matrix block...would that fit since the 280x is a re-branded 7970?

Thanks in advance
