I recently got a hand-me-down pc my brother made. He build it years ago and toasted the gpu. After I got it, I put a GTX 1060 in (before prices went up) and got it working.

Here's the question: should I upgrade the i5 750 in it to a i7 870, or just save to upgrade the whole thing to current architecture some years down the line?

So far, the cpu is the bottle neck, but not a big one. Mostly it caps out with an hd stream and cities skylines or dark souls running, eventually freezing one.

Is it worth the time and effort and $50-100 to grab a used i7, or should I wait until I can afford more current hardware?
