Alright guys I’ve been to like four forums and have gotten absolutely no help so by the gods of YouTube please fix my computer for me!

We’ll start with specs then I’ll explain.

Model: dell G3 laptop

GPU: Nvidia GTX 1060 6gb max Q

CPU: core i5 8300

RAM: 8 gb

if you need anything else just say. Also if you find I put stuff that may be uneccesary below I’m sorry I’m just trying to be as thourough as I can be.

Now for the boring part got my laptop everything was fine and dandy, I was running Fortnite and siege at like 110 FPS and it was great. Then all the sudden about two days ago my computer was so slow I mean it was close to unusable. It took me a couple of minutes just to open task manager and my disk was at 100% my ram was like 80% basically everything was on overdrive for no apparent reason. So I was like holy crap I shut down absolutely everything (down to Cortana) to free up my computer at this point I could actually do things but it just took a while. So I checked to see if my drivers and windows updates etc were updated and I had like 8 updates that were awaiting install and wouldn’t update so I had to fix that shenanigans with several hours of YouTube and research then I went to the dell website and updated stuff from there based on my laptops service tag. All of this helped but not much. Finally I kinda gave up my ram was at 40% and my disk had stopped so I was done messing with it cause I just to actually use my brand new laptop. Now I thought all was well until I noticed siege was running at 30 FPS. 30. And on the lowest setting the game had to offer (it lowered them automatically I guess, when I first got it they were almost all maxed out). So I again went to task manager and my memory was at like 60 percent so I was just kinda like whatever and I maxed out the settings in siege and played with (get ready for the curveball) exactly 30 FPS. It never dipped either it just stayed at 30. Next it’s not just siege being wierd cause Fortnite is unplayable. Again at first I played Fortnite at 100+ FPS (cap at 120) and it worked perfectly again settings almost maxed out I haven’t played but a couple matches in Fortnite since these problems but it’s bad too my games just crash from 60 to flat (capped it at 60 to see if that would help) and it was just noting but lag and I’d walk forward then teleport back to where I was and all kinds of stuff. Next on the list my internet it fine. My ping is 25 my mbps was like 25 ( I don’t remember everything but my point is that the internet is not a bottle neck)

I have no idea what the problem is please help in any way you can I try it all. I thought about getting more ram but ram obviously isn’t the problem because I’ve ran the games before. Also I have no apps running in task manager when it at 60% ram and like 30-70% disk. It says all kinds of stuff is running in the detailed view but I don’t know what to turn off and when I try it says I could mess up my computer most the time.

Do you have an frame limiter in NVidia settings maybe? Or maybe it was scanning for viruses or updating?

Also check what power setting you are running. Also, consider choosing a better title if you want people to open your post.

How would I check if there is a frame limiter? It wasn’t scanning for viruses cause when it originally got messed up i deleted mc afee cause mc afee used like 10% of memory by itself so I just deleted it all together. I can check if it has more “awaiting install” updates but I that’s the problem. And finally yeah sorry about that any way I can edit it?

Also, is your laptop a dual GPU model(integrated and dedicated), make sure it's using the NVidia GPU in games.

I’m not sure how do I check? The only thing I know about that kind of stuff is that my GPU is discrete.

Thank you so much it must have done it on its own when i re downloaded it cause my other one I think got corrupted or something just said that the icon had no like actual app or something but i looked in the Nvidia app and found the gram limiter. However i still do in general have problems with memory and such as I said so still looking for a fix for that.
