Both. I try to find the best price for the best performance. Right now I would say amd cards have a better price to performance ratio due to amd's current drivers.

Life is pain. Anyone who says any different is either selling something or the government.

This.

Price to performance, a nice ratio, is the best. Every price bracket is being dominated by AMD, so the Nvidia price equivalent is not worth the buy.

I typically set a budget - period - my MAX on a card. Then will start looking around for the best value taking into account specials and sales at the price point.

I would look for the best price to performance ratio when buying computer parts which is mostly probably going to be AMD cards if you are looking for a GPU.
