I want my mom to list my iPod on ebay but shes wouldnt know what to say about it so i'm going to make the description but ive also never listed anything on ebay and im not sure what i should say and whats just redundant. I planed on saying the gen, gig size, model number, ios version, cosmetic defects, what works and whats included in the sale. Is there anything else i should include?

Also it is an ipod touch 5th gen if that matters

That sounds about right. Unless you're a business seller, you don't have too include much information. If people need to find anything else about it, they'll either message you or find it on Apple's website for full specs.

Just be aware that Ebay charges listing fees and a 10% final selling fee.

That should be good enough. Try posting as many detailed pictures as you can in many different angles. Also, don't post the serial number, but remember it, character by character. This will be useful when a buyer returns a similar, yet different iPod that is non-functional and demands a refund.

Listing fees are usually free, especially if you don't list that often.

For the OP: When you post an item on eBay it'll ask you what you're selling and come up with model information so you won't have to enter any of that. What you should put in the description are any defects, how long you've owned it, what it comes with, how well it works and to say if you'll ship outside of your country. eBay will try to get you to use their Global Shipping Program but it's easiest just to uncheck that box and only do national shipping for something like an iPod.

Sometimes, a serial number is used to register a product for warranty. If somebody else registers a product that isn't theirs before the actual owner, the actual owner of the product will not be able to register it for warranty. I do not think it applies here with an iPod, but you generally want to refrain from posting the serial number publicly. If someone wants to know the serial number to determine the version of the product, or when and where it was manufactured, you can tell them privately. Go ahead and feel free to post the serial number, but it is unnecessary. It is just the general rule of thumb to refrain from posting the serial number publicly.

isnt the warranty started once the ipods activated?

Like I said, it doesn't really apply here, but still try to refrain from doing so, so you can start doing it as a habit.

Serial numbers can also be used for fraudulent purposes.

Definitely write a brief description to go along with the stock specs. Just your usage, reason for sale, condition.
If you just post the spec and nothing else people will avoid it as it looks a little fishy. Scammers often listen items like that because they want minimal effort for maximum gain.

Other than that it should be fine.
Don't use their Global Shipping Program, even if you do intend to ship internationally. It's just a money grab on eBay's part. Often it'll be way more expensive to the buyer than just getting it shipped USPS.

...specs. Not pics. Lots of pictures are always a good thing.

Even better, is to write the username on a piece of paper beside the item for one of the pictures. Mostly useful if your mom doesn't have a high feedback rating.
