@Pixel5 ruffly 22-24 external ssd 3.0 usb drives, about 10-12 external usb 2.0 various drives. I'll be back them up asap onto WD TB drives, my current crashes for some reason when ever I try to back up a drive. But I've done it a few times on my friends laptop issue free so I know its not the drives thankfully.

@LukeSavenije 1200 usd for the mobo & ram. I have a 1200w PSU, Tower 900 for the case. I'm trying to figure something out for water cooling. I have been a monoblock + water chiller since the tower 900 is already ridiculous.

btw: I'm based in the USA, I was just researching mobo info on that site hardware site.

Sounds like you will be overclocking. If that is the case the X399 MEG Creation is the way to as it has the most solid VRM.

know this will only work with asus premium boards. but there are no cheap ones for treadripper. so any asus board will work with it

I think the ASRock might have the edge here then.

@GoldenLag 100% want to have some overclocking going on here. I also would like to pair the CPU with the best RAM speed & CL wise. Any idea why the Meg only has 100 Mhz going on with the Maximum FSB/bClk frequency?

The default clock generator amd requires mobo manufacturers to use for ryzen doesn't support changing the bclk much if at all. However, some more expensive mobos use a different one that does allow for changing the bclk.

I'm pretty sure that site is wrong though. I'm 99% sure the MSI board has an external clock generator that allows for much higher bclk.

As for ram, ideally you're gonna want something with Samsung b die 3200 mhz cl14, 3600 mhz cl16, or anything higher frequency. However, b die is usually quite expensive. Ryzen 2 has much better memory compatibility than ryzen 1 so you could probably get away with 3200 mhz cl16

Thanks Much @DocSwag, I will look around for more updated info on that mobo with the fugly name & look. It should be called the X399 Mega Hella Fugly!

But...  But... Rgb!

Just to add, I don't think the USB ports will be any problem. It's capable of supporting the full R/W of 3.0 or 3.1 gen 1 at the very least.
