Hey Everyone,

I wanted to buy a new PC and decided to go with this config.

Sadly the prices for the Intel i7-8700 increased from around 300 € to way over 400 € today. So I am rethinking my decision and may be buying my first AMD CPU.

Which one would you recommend as an replacement for the i7-8700. Ryzen 7 2700X seems to be the obvious choice, but there also is the cheaper Ryzen 5 2600X or the Ryzen 7 1800X.

#EDIT

Do you think, that the Intel prices may get back to 300 € until the end of this year? My crystall ball sadly has no information on this.

I'd opt for the AMD 2700x myself.  Great chip.

1800X or 2700X should work.

Do be wary though. Second generation Ryzen CPUs (Ryzen 2xxx) may need a BIOS update to work if you have a A320, B350 or X370 motherboard. (B450 and X470 is not affected).

Go for the Ryzen 7 if you have the money. If not, the Ryzen 5 is also a great CPU. Ryzen is good at multithreaded tasks which the i7 is known for so either of them will suit you well as an i7 replacement.

I don't know if going with a 1050 is a good idea. I personally would get a 1060, but I am an FPS whore.Otherwise,, for productivity, go for the 2700 or 2700x depending on the price gap in your country.
