Hey Linus I am new to pc gaming on a desktop and have recently purchased a new desktop from a big box store. I'd like to ask if you think it sounds pretty good for the price: 8th gen intel i7 8700, 16gb ram, 1 tb hdd, 120gb ssd, Asus prime h310 plus motherboard, and a nvidia 1060 3gb card all in a decently large and vented case with rgb all for around $1200 including a 2 year warranty. I now i could build one probably better but I am new to this scene so i wanted a pre built to get me started. How much better could i do if I buit it on my own or finding a cheaper pre built or same price one thats just as good or better. I have another week to be able to take it back if you or anyone can give me a better idea than to run with what i have and upgrade overtime.

That motherboard's VRM will overheat all the time with an 8700 whenever anything CPU demanding runs. This will induce CPU throttling.

Is this a gaming rig? If yes hen the CPU and GPU balance is wayyyyy off.

That 2 year warranty is also worth $200 btw

Yeah some would rather get a key that isn't grey market. That's why I put the official Windows and if they want to do an alternative then they can do so.

Build something like this instead...

A ryzen 5 2600 + rx580 should be plenty fr basic 1080p gaming.

I have even added a 1080p 144hz Freesync monitor ND peripherals while staying under ur budget...
