Hello everyone

My first time here and my first time building my own pc. So i would really appreciate the help :)! Please tell me what you think about it and I hope you can tell me if I'm totally wrong with some of the parts.

Here are the parts:

CPU:    AMD RYZEN 3 2200G (AM4, 3.50GHz, Unlocked)

RAM:   Corsair Vengeance LPX (2x, 8GB, DDR4-3000, DIMM 288)

SSD:    Kingston A400 (240GB, 2.5")

Case:   BitFenix Nova (Midi Tower)

MoBo:  AsRock B450M PRO4, mATX, AM4

PSU:    be quiet! SYSTEM POWER 9 (400W)

I want to do a ryzen 3 2200g build without a separate gpu. I went for the B450M motherboard as it doesn't need a BIOS update (don't have another CPU and not keen on doing the back and forth with the kit) and is good for later upgrading. With the ram I'm not completely sure regarding but got it for about 130$. I left out the HDD as I definitely wanted to get an ssd for the OS and I will only start with a few smaller games so I think 240 GB will do for now. Maybe I will later buy an 1tb HDD. I wanted to keep the option open to add a GPU later (something like a GTX 1050 ti) but not at the moment, as I am totally happy with stable 30-50 fps on mid to low settings. The build comes to around 460$.

Thank you very much for the help!

Max

P.S. I still need a monitor. Thought about buying the AOC e2460Sh

If you switch to a Ryzen 5 2400G you'll get better igpu performance for only ~50USD more^^

Hi! Thank you very much for your comment. I thought about it, but I really wanted to do a ryzen 3 build and where I buy it (Switzerland) the ryzen 5 costs 70$ more.

Can you tell me, if the RAM is going to be okay with this build? I know the ryzen 3 needs quite high speed ram and also better to have 2 than just one.

Thanks so much for your recommendation. I checked the prices for Switzerland and when I don't include the stuff in your list that I don't have in my build (Hard Drive & Monitor) your list sums up to about 570$, which is about 100$ more than my list (and includes less RAM). Of course you have a better motherboard, a nicer looking case, and better power supply, but I'm not sure if the difference in performance would be so noticeable that I would spend 100$ more. I'm not sure... :/ I'm open for a discussion though ;)

Thank you a lot for the recommendation of the monitor, I think I will buy that one.

The build is fine. Nothing stands out as particularly bad to me.

The prices and availability varies by country, so a build using PCPP US obbiously won't help.

Hey there! Thank you so much for the comment! Really appreciate the confirmation that I'm not completely off..

If I'm honest I was really afraid of comments like "The motherboard does not support this RAM!" or "With this motherboard you need an additional GPU!" or "You will need a bigger PSU!"..

Thanks again for your comment!

The RAM isn't guaranteed to work at the rated speed, but it's likely it'll work. The rest is fine.

Okay, thanks!

But is there a way to find this out before I open the package? Or is it just "install and fingers crossed"?

If it wouldn't be optimal, how would I notice after booting?

Luck, really. Some CPUs randomly have a better IMC than others, that's just the silicon lottery.

It just wouldn't boot at the rated frequency. Just set the frequency manually to something lower, and/or change the timings.

However, it would boot, right? But would be a bit slower? My horror-scenario is to not being able to boot.. Need to do some research on how to setup the pc (first boot, windows 10 install, etc.) - I'm not really planning on overclocking as I want to use the stock cooler.

Hehe did I mention I'm a first time builder? xD

Can you recommend any good videos/tutorial on how to do that?

Thanks again for your support!

It should boot, yes. It's very likely to.

It's not rocket science. The frequency is easy. Should be under something like frequency settings or memory settings in the BIOS. Then just use the + or - key to change to the frequency you want. Couldn't find videos on ASRock boards from a quick search.

Awesome, thank you!

Is there a program, where I can see if everything runs as it should or do I have to download and run benchmarks?

HWMonitor should show the frequencies and temperatures.
