New Blood

SeriuzBuzinez

New Blood is going to be my new main work / gaming rig replacing my old faithful Q6600 build which was a pre-built pc brought back in the day when I had no idea you could build your own computers. The main theme I am going for is a clean simplistic look which is prominantly black and whatever colour the coolant in the system at that time will be (I will switch it to a different colour every time it needs changing) so it will be interesting to see what the end result will look like, and wether it will look any good or not.

Hardware

  • Intel Core i7-4930K
  • Asus Rampage IV Black Edition
  • Corsair Dominator Platinum 32GB
  • EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Ti Superclocked 980MHZ
  • Corsair Obsidian 900D
  • Corsair RM 1000W
  • Samsung SSD 840 250 GB
  • Seagate Barracuda 1TB

Watercooling Parts

  • XSPC D5 Vario Pump & XSPC Acetal D5 Top
  • EK Water Blocks EK-Supremacy Clean CSQ - CPU Block
  • EK-FB KIT ASUS R4BE - Motherboard Block
  • EK Water Blocks EK-FC780 GTX Ti
  • EK-RES X3 250 Reservoir
  • EK Water Blocks EK-CSQ Fitting 10/13mm G1/4 - Black x16
  • Alphacool NexXxoS UT60 Full Copper 480mm
  • Corsair Fan, SP120 PWM Low Noise High Pressure Fan x4
  • Koolance QD3 Male Quick Disconnect
  • Koolance QD3 Female Quick Disconnect
  • Mayhems Ultra Pure H20 Watercooling Fluid 1L
  • Mayhems Aurora - Tharsis Red Coolant 1L

All the parts are on order so the next update will be when the majority of the parts have been delivered which will be sometime next week!!

Thanks for looking!!

Literally so stupid to get that big of a PSU for a single GPU. I hope you plan to have tri-sli or something

You don't need a 1000W power supply, you will never go over like 650W with a single GPU.

Is there a reason for the 1000w psu ? if not i would suggest maybe a 650 or 750w maybe something from corsair or silverstone And also people remember not to hate on something that he may have already bought Like linus said in the last live stream

Looks like a pretty beast rig. But why are you spending so much money and only get one 780ti? Little bit disappointed, but hey, it's not my money.

Looking forward to the build!

Reason for the 1000w PSU is because I plan to do dual / tri SLI in the future and also because the price im paying is not much more than the 850w PSU, the reason there is only one GPU atm is because believe it or not I am on a budget but I plan to add parts on to the build every 4 months until it's all done!!

Good news is a fair amount of my parts came along today!!

Mobo should be here by tomorrow.

Bad news is the PSU won't be here until next week, and I will be waiting even longer for the watercooling parts but at least with the CPU fan I brought I can test the parts out to make sure they are all working before installing all the cooling.

because they look amazing

^^ Simply for aesthetical reasons to be honest with you, anyway more stuff arrived today!!!

  • Pump
  • Rad
  • CPU Block
  • Tubing (Noticed it was real short so ordered some more...
  • Res
  • Coolants (Mayhems Purified H20 and Aurora)
  • Compression Fittings
  • Fans
  • Motherboard
  • Lots of Haribo for being a good Overclockers UK customer!!

Just waiting on the PSU and then I can get the system running with air cooling to test the parts, and then just need the gpu / mobo block and another few bits I ordered to arrive and I can have a lot of fun putting all this together.

Haribo is bottlenecking your system. I'd upgrade to M&M's for best performance.

Decided to give you all an update, as a lot has gone on these past few days...

Firstly I got fed up waiting for the RM 1000 so I decided to buy a Seasonic 860w Platinum as it was in sock, I just had to pay a bit more.... Also the PC is now working with air cooling and I am already enjoying being able to play games properly once again!!

a9qsk5.jpg

Decided to fit the radiator and fans in to the case as I would have only had to have done it later.

1jkidh.jpg

Fitted motherboard and drilled the mounting holes for the tube res, there wasn't really anywhere else to put it, so I decided to stick it there.

9lkc5x.jpg

After all that (the radiator was a pain to fit with the short screws) I decided to do what all British people do best and drink a nice cup of tea

jj5wms.jpg

PSU finally arrived and I must say I am very happy with it so far, it is extremely quiet when my pc is idling (standard mode), and with hybrid mode on it don't even spin when idling.

nwlg7d.jpg

Finally putting all the parts together, it felt like forever waiting for them all... especially the PSU

2wcitt2.jpg

Was surprised to see that the motherboard is lit up when the PC is not booted up

2nqa8mg.jpg

Even more lights when it is booted up, wasn't expecting a stock Intel fan to have a led inside it either... that was a surprise, looks very nice in a dark room

wmjtkx.jpg

Was a relief to see this, the ram was installed in the wrong slots because I thought I knew better than to read the instruction booklet

348rb78.jpg

Decided to do some quick cable management to tidy things up a bit, run out of cable ties so I will finish it off when I get some more.

293dedj.jpg

So far so good I think, I am satisfied with how it looks so far and I am glad I changed out the PSU otherwise I still wouldn't have a computer... Another thing I will say is that whilst I love the 900D the drive cages are bloody awful and they always fall apart when I am installing hard drives, also some of the screws are poor quality as there's is a certain bag of screws which always turn my fingers black... apart from that no complaints. I now have all the blocks and gear I need for the waterc00ling, all I need is some extensions for the fans on the radiator and the pump and I can have fun installing and cooling this beast, so watch out for that!!
