As a Mac user finally branching out, I am looking for a windows laptop. Some baisc requirements are: core i7, at least 500 gb of storage, and it needs to be able to output 4k to a monitor. I heard that the last one might require a soecific hdmi like hdmi2.0 but i dont know. I am new to the whole PC and windows world. I would really appreciate any siggestions. This is the only place I know to ask for help. Thanks

Curious as to why you "need" an i7. Are you doing some sort of rendering? Unless you're a power-user, coming from Mac an i5 should be just fine?

Thanks for asking that. I’m so new at this I didn’t really know that. So i guess I do not need it. I was wondering about that so thanks

Since you're coming from Mac, I imagine you are used to things being quite expensive so...

Perhaps the Surface Book 2? Completely maxed out configuration you're looking at £2,749.00 ($3,584.00 US) but it's top end stuff

Haha! So true! But my budget is about 1800 at maximum so...

What are you looking to do with the system? Gaming or just general every-day usage?

Some light gaming, nothing fancy. But overall just a general use laptop. I’ll be using it for school and some video editing which i why i wanted it to be able to utilize a 4k external monitor.

It appears that any modern laptop with HDMI 2.0 can do 4k at 60hz. But since you mentioned some light gaming and editing, I suggest you get something with a dedicated graphics card in it. This may drive up the cost, size, and weight of the laptop. Just how portable do you want it to be? Any weight or size constraints?

Here is a Dell, there is also an i5 version for about 1,000 USD

This Lenovo is heavier and also more expensive. They do have some cheaper Lenovos but they get up to 10 pounds sometimes. I always want a light laptop whenever I need to carry it (for obvious reasons).

You can actually go for power/gaming laptop. Which do you prefer, Ultrabook/regular laptop or power/gaming laptop? Do you mind low sRGB display? Also, you haven't answer me:
