Monitor not turning on and keyboard and mouse have no power

Hung5yH1pp0

Hi everyone,

After installing my new graphics card (980 ti to 1080 ti), my monitor is not detecting any signal and my keyboard and mouse aren't receiving power. Keep in mind that my PC has not been turned on for about 2 months because I was in the process of upgrading. Any help would be appreciated.

Specs:

Ryzen 5 1600

16gb RAM (2 x ?

PNY GTX 1080 TI (water-cooled by NZXT Kraken G12 and NZXT KRAKEN X64)

1TB Hard Drive and 500GB SSD

750w power supply

Sorry, forgot to mention that. Yes, all of the lights turn in, fans spin, and everything looks like it's functioning as normal.

First find out if it's the gpu problem, try unplugging the gpu and plug it into your motherboard integrated graphics and see if it post. If not, maybe check all your connections again, maybe something is loose or not plugged in.

AMD Ryzen 5 1600s don't have integrated graphics.

Just to make sure, your computer was unplugged when you installed the graphics card right?

Damn. Well it does seem as though this is either a motherboard or PSU related issue, and not likely something with the GPU. Have you tried resetting the CMOS yet?

Yep, tried that yesterday. Are your sure that it has to do with the GPU? It seemed to happen right after I replaced it. Though it could be because I left it sitting for a month or 2. I am borrowing a gpu from my friend today to test it out.

Ok, so it is not the GPU. I am leaning towards the power supply because it is 3.5 years old.

It's super strange. My monitor wakes up from sleep as soon as my PC powers on and then it goes right back to sleep. Keep in mind that nothing is showing up on the monitor.

It's possible. The fans might kick off and then stop until they are needed, I'm not sure with that card.

I don't know how generous your friend is, but you could test your mobo in his rig or his PSU in your rig. I'm leaning towards the PSU at this point but it's always best to test everything before spending any money.

Makes me think the motherboard. You sure everything is hooked in properly? The right CPU cable, 24pin plugged in all the way, fan plugged into CPU header, etc.

Is your GPU properly mounted?

In your picture, you are missing the screw on one of the expansion slots -- the card uses up two slots, the screw for the first slot is missing.

It also looks like your card is in at an angle.
