Hey everyone,

I was looking at getting some new headset and wondered what people would recommend. I am looking for a gaming headset with the best quality audio for gaming most importantly. My budget is around £140/$220 ish . My motherboard for connectivity and anything that you might need to know is a

M5A78L-M/USB3.

I don't want to get sound card.

I was looking at the astro a40 without mixamp. But was stuck whether or not i can connect it with either usb (and still have good audio) or the s/pdif port on the motherboard.

if you would like anymore info please write below.

p.s. comfort is quite important as well i dont want a painful head/ears after 30 mins.

I actually used that motherboard, about one and a half year ago, and although I was an entire noob, I did find the onboard on it to be.. not very good.. This mostly due to the way it distorted when I used the EQ in the settings on it, even the slightest change, it started crackling. Whenever I get my license back, I'm going home again where I have that motherboard lying around, so I can run a few tests of my own again,  but for now, I just want to tell you to get something like a FiiO E10. but I only want to tell you that, I'm not entirely sure about the onboard on that motherboard, I'm not directly telling you to get an E10. oh and btw, if you're outside of the US or maybe just outside NA, it might be a little overpriced.

oh, and I recommend you getting a pair of good headphones and a standalone mic, something like Sennheiser HD558 or Audio-Technica AD700X + a Zalman Clip mic or a Blue Snowflake. but if you absolutely want a headset, get the Sennheiser PC360, only gaming headset I'd recommend if you have the budget for it. oh, and if you want cheap headphones to go with the Zalman, either Superlux 681, or Pioneer SE-A1000.

I use the PC360 and it's really good, much better for games than the PC350 SE because of the open design.
