Hi, i've just got my hands on a i7 8086k with a 240mm aio cpu cooler... currently using an aorus z370 gaming ultra motherboard. 4.9ghz@1.35Volts. 5ghz aint stable for me even when i crank it up to 1.4Volts. as i seen people going all the way up to 5.1/5.2 ghz...

am now planning to get a asus maximus m10f hero motherboard. will this fix my problem?

the mobo can affect the oc capabilities.

this can be because of power phases and how they deliver then to your components. generally more are better

Hard Maybe. It all depends on silicon lottery here. You could have a chip that just cant stay stable above 4.9 no matter what you do regardless of new power delivery, or it could go well above 5Ghz. No way to know for sure until you test on another board tho unfortunately.

Main Rig: cpu: Intel 6600k OC @ 4.5Ghz; gpu: Gigabyte Gaming OC RTX 2080 (OC'd); mb: Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD3; ram: 16 GB (2x8GB) 3000 G.Skill Ripjaws V; psu: EVGA 650BQ; storage: 500GB Samsung 850 evo, 2TB WD Black; case: Cooler Master HAF 912; cooling: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo, Lots of fans, Air!; display: 4k Samsung 42" TV, Asus MX259H 1080p audio: Schiit Audio Magni Amp w/ Audio Technica M50x

Yes it does.

When i used my Z370-F Gaming, it's okay.

When i used my Maximus X Hero, it's better.
When i used my Z370 Godlike Gaming, it's hotter at idle but overclocks like a champ i can go 5.5ghz on AIO.

You've Got To Pimp My Riggggggg...  (DAMN RIGHT)

Basically same thing unless you're going for Close Looped Liquid Cooling then go for Formula.

Hero boards are middle-ground for ROG, while Formula is a step or two up.

ROG STriX --> Ranger --> Hero --> Formula / Code -->Apex / Extreme

Are there any load line calibrations you can make?  And have you visited other forums specific to your current board to get some more guidance from folks with experience with your board?

would depend on the quality of the PSU. how consistently it delivers power. most mostly its not a massive issue
