I made a partition and installed linux on the wrong drive

Go to solution Solved by KarathKasun,

After booting from the Ubuntu media, do the following to remove the UEFI partition...

Use "Try Ubuntu" instead of "Install Ubuntu".

After it loads, click "Activities" in the top left corner.

Type "gparted" into the search box and click the "gparted" icon that appears

Delete offending partition by highlighting it and clicking on the red "no" circle.

Save the changes by clicking the green checkmark.

Click "apply" when asked if you are sure.

Reboot.

Simple.  Windows disk management, delete the partition, make a new one.

Also, if you wiped your games drive, any data there is gone.

If you installed Linux on that drive, the data is gone.

Did the drive have free space for a partition before you went to install Linux?  If not, you nuked the data.

right click on the start and select disk management. right click on the partition you created and select delete volume, then right click on your games drive and select extend volume. in the window that appears select all the available memory and hit ok, your games drive should now be using all the available memory on the hard drive.

EDIT: like @KarathKasun says this will only work if you did not nuke the drive when installing linux and instead created a new partition

You will need to use the diskpart command from a command line (CMD or powershell)

like commandprompt in windows?

Yes.

If you need to, Google a guide for using diskpart.

ok, thanks

Sorry for the "just Google it", but Diskpart usage can be quite complex and would probably be best learned from a website with a full tutorial with images and explanations.

Delete the EFI partition too.  That is the boot-loader/kernel area for Linux.

like @KarathKasun says delete the EFI partition, this should then let you extend the drive. make sure you only delete the partition you need to there are no safety nets in diskpart, if your unsure i would maybe try to find some partition manager software that will let you do the same in a GUI rather than command line.
