query about peripherals drivers

Hi

When I connect for the first time, new, standart peripheral such as mouse or keyboard to usb port, and message appears: installing device driver, and after a sec you can use your new device.  I wonder how peripherals gets it's drivers, whether automatically windows downloads via internet, or there are standart drivers for standart peripherals witihin windows os itself, so that it only needs to be initialized on new device..

windows has a (large) collection of standard drivers, and the device simply says "i am a mouse", letting windows figure out the rest of it.

Your usual peripherals are just standard HID devices which are standardized and do not require any driver other than the one thats baked in the OS.
