Raid 0 array of Kingston a400 240gb SSD’s or a 512 gb nvme ssd? Bearing in mind it will be paired with a 2tb 7200rpm SATA 6 hdd

A single drive will always be recommended over RAID 0 in my book.

NVMe 512GB over 2x 240GB in RAID0 anytime :

RAID0 = One drive dies, you are screwed.
480GB < 512GB.
NVMe let's you use SATA ports for something else and M.2 doesn't take a drive space in your case.

I think there is one downside more to the A400 Raid solution...

As far as I know you can't TRIM a SSD raid array (right?).

 

So your SSD's will lose their lifespan faster than just 1 drive.
