laptop gpu not being used

hi,my friend has an gtx 1060 and I think it's not being used, I tried to install some games and i noticed that can't even hold 60 fps at lowest settings on games like fortnite he told me that he already set the graphics card as main use
any suggestions? thanks

double check device manager to make sure it's running and set as main output.

Then check if there are any newer drivers for it

 

laptop gpus aren't great but it should be able to run fortnite at lowest settings

I think his friend has a normal 1060 in his laptop?

You'll need to go into the NVIDIA Control Panel and set Fortnite to use dedicated GPU Otherwise an easier way for programs without a launcher is to right click on the program and in one of the menus you can select to use the "High Performance NVIDIA Processor"
